Aww... why did you have to do that...

C'mon, Andy, why'd you have to go and cut all your hair off?? You have to get to about 40 sec into this video.

Ok.....

everyone done with the Olympics hangover? That was a tough one to get over. My withdrawal symptoms are now hardly recognizable, except for the spontaneously singing 'Oh, Canada'. I guess I do have 28 months to learn 'God Save the Queen'. A final olympic video, Ryan St. Ogne got 4th in aerials and Justin Olsen was a pusher on the gold medal winning 4-man bobsled team.

Cycling:
-Paris-Nice was won by Alberto Contado, and not because his team was strong. If he wins the Tour, it will be all because of him. Although it will certainly be entertaining with everyone's favorite vodka-swigging, positive-drug-tester, generally-crazy-riding Kazakh Alexandre Vinokourov back in the peloton and AC's teammate. I can imagine the conversation between these two as the ride up an important mountain in France in July.....
Vino (in Kazakh): "I'm going to attack."
AC (in Spanish): "You need to watch the other riders to make sure they don't attack."
Vino (in Kazakh): "Ok, when everyone is together, I will attack."
AC (in Spanish): "I'm leading the Tour, so you can't leave me."
Vino (in Kazakh): "When you least expect it, and it makes no sense, I will attack....many times, I'll attack."
-The spring one day classics are coming up, so keep an eye out for Tornado Tom Boonen. His recreational cocaine use is over, for now.
-Mark Cavendish, how many times can we joke about his bad, British teeth? Since it's effected his riding.....I say it's open season.

Tennis:
Andy Roddick and James Blake were greatly missed by the U.S. Davis Cup Team. The Serbs took our lunch money, knocked us down and tried to kick clay in our eyes.

Big ups to our two nieces that are State Champs!!! Stone Cold is now 2 time Champion in state basketball. And Twinkle Toes is a double State Champion in dancing. Here team won the Hip Hop and Pom routines.
Wow, I'm sure glad the next generation can revel in the same talents that we have!!!!!!

Tennis, I guess...(half heartedly)

John Isner, I don't think I forgive you. sorry, you royally pissed my eyes off and they get stabby & carry a grudge. Sorry John, my eyes just get like that. Oh Andy, we'll miss you.
At least Murray got beat, and Shreeck-ova too. Oudin was a giant, blond russian killer, but couldn't take out the giant, blond dane tonight. And in further bad tennis news, the Bryan Bro's lost too. Too much time spent practicing jumping chest bumps I guess.
However, the first two sets of the Nadal/Monfils match last night were great - until wheels fell off the french bicycle and the spanish lion ate delicious flaky french croissants for a midnight snack.
Oh and who else is ridiculously excited for the Spike Jonze movie Where the Wild Things Are? Ohhh ME! Pick me! Pick me!!! (trailer)

sad tennis eyes

because of Murray vs. Gulbis, then my ears got ticked off when Brad Gilbert started talking. He is close to leapfrogging Al Trautwig on announcers my ears would most like to push off a cliff. My ears know it's bad when they are glad that Johnny Mac starts talking.
One good thing about living on the left coast (besides being able to hold a weenie roast on the smoldering ruins of your neighbors house) is watching the last US Open match and still getting to bed at ten. Roddick's first round match, featured Andre Agassi in the comment box. Andre, you are the best. Really. A rare case of a great athlete and an even better person.
Unrelated to anything having to do with sports - but this guy twitters things his dad says. You're welcome.

Happy 4th...

Between Serena, Venus & Andy there are many reasons to feel good this 4th. First off, Serena is an absolute beast, she should give Kobe & Pau lessons on how to look tough. ARod played better against Murray than he's played in a long time. Along with his improved fitness he played with more patience & confidence. Not that I'd give him much chance against Rogerer, but maybe Mirka will go into labor and he'll get distracted.
Happy 4th all!

Wimbledon. Day 9. T-minus 2 days to TdF

ARod won, although I can find no evidence that the match was shown in its entirety today- despite me filling the entire DVR with alleged tennis coverage. ESPN, I'm feeling so stabby towards you, stay away. Rogerer & Napoleon won too. Big story, Tommy Haas upset Novak Djokovic today in 4 sets. Haas at 31 is ancient in tennis years, which makes me think that tennis girlfriends must age inversely. Remember when the Russians "allegedly" poisoned him? Andy, Tommy takes your saving the hotel guests from fire and will raise you a poisoning. Good stuff.
I'm sure Boo & Star had alot of time to brainstorm while driving across the entire state of Kansas today, so expect stellar TdF insights from them when they sober up monday- after drinking with Jock the rest of this week - Happy B-day Jock!

The second week...

Venus & Serena are looking good, watched a little of their double match - that's just scary.
ARod said he likes twitter 'cause he can follow the Huskers...I know that will make you all vry happy. ESPN had an article that said part of the reason he's doing so well this year, besides the fitness level, is the stability in his personal life. What do you know, man marries 21 year old SI swimsuit model and his life gets better. Amazing, what are the odds*
Don't worry ladies, NBC did mention that Andy banned her music for the fortnight because she likes cheesy pop crap. Ha! what a loser**
*sarcasm, obviously
**seriously, what is she 12? ...what me bitter? no, not bitter, happily married, you must be bitter and interpret my comments as such.

Day 2 in Londontown

Andy advanced today, so did Andy and Venus too.
Lleyton won too, and proved once again he should not share his opinions with the world because he reveals what a total asshat his is.
Sadly Boo, Safin tried kinda hard, okay not at all and lost to a very small American qualifier.
Most importantly, Steve Nash is wandering the streets of Brooklyn dressed as a hipster. If I was there I'd set a hipster trap for him with a discussion about the quality of light in polaroids, a MGMT album and a case of Pabst Blue Ribbon for bait. We don't really have hipsters wandering here in phoenix (1. too hot for skinny black jeans and scarves 2. I live in the suburbs, so they might be here but the Nascar banners hung in the garages scare them away-they like their blue collar from a distance)

creating the championship tennisbot

I was reading this article today which proposed that the U.S. needs more crazy tennis parents to push their children to become champions, since the U.S. tennis association is in a bit of a drought. Speaking of crazy tennis parents... Maria Sharapova's dad wasn't coaching enough or making enough crazy threats from the stands, or maybe Dominika Cibulkova is way to tough of a slovak to fall for that. She downed Maria 6-0, 6-2. Buh Bye Maria, can't say I'll miss your ridiculously deliberate serve preparation or your annoying noises.
Congrats to Andy for doing so well - second week. well done. (fourth round, four pictures)

Damn Team Kobe...

That's all I'm gonna say. That and Lamar Odom finally pulled his head out of his box of ho-hos and realized he's a free agent this summer.
Good News for your eyeballs -  Andy Roddick overcame his american-ness won his first round match. And the french love him?!? Sadly Blake lost.
